About

When the Zoo opened it was probably 1/5th of the size it has grown to presently! It has been a labour of love and achieved through the hard work of our wonderful team. We also had big aspirations when we set out to achieve our amazing shows and displays.

We knew we had to engage and inspire our guests, but also hit a chord with our wildlife conservation message. We are now thrilled to have the largest free flight bird show in the country with over 100 different birds of 30 different species from around the world in one spectacular display!

OurMission

At WILD Zoological Park, our mission is to inspire a deep connection to nature by fostering respect, curiosity, and care for the natural world. Through immersive experiences, engaging education, and dynamic wildlife displays, we aim to cultivate resilience, confidence, and courage in all who visit. Our commitment to conservation, welfare, and lifelong learning drives us to provide exceptional animal care, support global wildlife initiatives, and create unforgettable encounters that ignite a passion for protecting our planet.

From SmallBeginnings

WILD Zoological Park opened its doors in August 2016, founded by Zachary Hollinshead—then just 23 years old!
After graduating from Aberystwyth University and gaining experience at various zoological collections, Zac had already begun sharing his passion for wildlife through Wild Encounters, a project he started as a teenager. Through this, he visited schools and events with his growing menagerie of animals, inspiring a love for the natural world.

When Halfpenny Green Vineyard sought someone to breathe new life into a site on their estate, Zac—alongside the support of Mr. Peter Arnold—seized the opportunity. Together, they laid the foundations for WILD. As more passionate team members joined the project, the WILD family grew, along with the park itself.

Alice, now our Head Keeper, has been part of the journey from the very beginning. Starting as a volunteer, she quickly rose through the ranks—first as a Keeper, then Deputy Head Keeper, and now leading the animal care team. It was through the combined vision and dedication of Zac, Alice, and the team that the incredible Wild Wings Bird Show took flight—one of the park’s most beloved features today.
