The WILD Curriculum
Our Ethos
WILD’s Educational Programs are centered around 4 main pillars
Inner Strength
At WILD, we aim to nurture resilience, confidence, and courage in ALL children (regardless of background, race or SEND), encouraging them to approach everything they set their minds to with determination. Our curriculum is designed to ensure these traits are developed through a strong emphasis on the outdoor environment and a deep connection to nature, nurturing these qualities through hands-on experiences in the natural world. By immersing children in outdoor learning, WILD fosters growth, adaptability, and a profound appreciation for the environment. The ultimate goal is to build inner strength, creating strong, lifelong learners ready to thrive in any challenge they face.
Responsibility
WILD’s educational programs emphasise the concept of global responsibility, aiming to inspire individuals to care for, respect, and protect the planet in all possible ways. By focusing on critical environmental actions—such as keeping the planet clean, recycling, conserving energy, and safeguarding wildlife—WILD encourages both children and adults to recognise the impact of their daily actions on the environment. These programs seek to foster a sense of stewardship, helping people understand that even small efforts contribute to a healthier, more sustainable world.
Discovery
The third pillar of the curriculum ethos at WILD, focused on Discovery, nurtures a love for learning. By encouraging curiosity, problem solving and exploration, learners develop key skills beyond just subject knowledge. Teaching about wildlife and our environment not only expands understanding of the world but also fosters empathy, respect, and awareness of others’ needs—essential life skills that promote a deeper connection to both nature and society.
Collaboration
WILD Zoological Park’s belief in collaboration reflects the idea that working together, both with people and the environment, leads to success. In ecosystems, animals rely on one another for survival, much like humans thrive through cooperation. This philosophy aligns with community building, conservation efforts, and educational partnerships, emphasising how interdependence can foster growth and mutual benefits. The park promotes this value in its conservation work, outreach programs, and interactions with visitors.
Believing that children should have the opportunity to work alongside others and develop leadership values is a powerful philosophy. It promotes teamwork, collaboration, and personal growth from a young age. By encouraging children to work with peers, they learn important social skills, problem-solving, and the value of cooperation. Simultaneously, giving them chances to take on leadership roles fosters responsibility, confidence, and decision-making abilities.
This approach helps children grow into well-rounded individuals, preparing them for future challenges where both teamwork and leadership are essential for success.
