National Endangered Species Day
Today is National Endangered Species Day, a time to reflect on the incredible wildlife we’re at risk of losing—and the powerful role we all play in protecting them.
Here at Wild Zoological Park, we’re proud to stand with zoos and conservation organisations around the world working every day to save species from extinction. In the UK, BIAZA zoos are more than just places to see animals—they are centers of conservation and public education!
We’re especially passionate about two critically endangered species close to our hearts:
Blue-throated Macaws – With fewer than 300 (possibly less than 80) individuals left in the wild, these striking parrots are one of the rarest in the world. Through breeding programs, habitat restoration, and partnerships with conservation groups in Bolivia, zoos like ours are helping give them a future.
African White-backed Vultures – These vital scavengers are disappearing fast due to poisoning, habitat loss, and trade. What can be done? Initiatives such as breeding programmes, awareness campaigns, and support for field conservation teams across Africa.
Every visit to Wild Zoological Park supports these missions and helps us continue our work with our official conservation partners in saving species. We believe that conservation starts with connection—and nothing inspires action like seeing our ambassador birds flying free during our daily display!
Join us this weekend as we highlight our conservation heroes, from the skies of Africa to the forests of South America. Together, we can turn the tide for endangered wildlife.
