Zachary Hollinshead
Zoo Director
Zachary is the Zoo Director at WILD Zoological Park, and his dream of opening WILD began at a very young age. Raised on a farm surrounded by animals, he developed a deep passion for wildlife early on. As a child, he started keeping exotic birds, including his first-ever macaw—Cybil, a Greenwing Macaw who is now a star of the WILD WINGS bird show. His love for animals soon expanded to reptiles and exotic mammals, setting the foundation for his future in zoology.
Over the years, his experience grew as he worked with a diverse range of species in wildlife parks around the world. Zac pursued his passion academically, studying biology and zoology at university. During this time, he founded the educational company Wild Encounters, dedicated to bringing the natural world into schools, science fairs, and colleges. He also developed educational displays for major events, including free-flying bird shows—laying the foundation for what is now the internationally recognised WILD WINGS BIRD SHOW.
When he’s not at the zoo, Zac is a huge fan of the theatre and enjoys both watching and performing in multiple shows each year.
Today, he is immensely proud of his team for helping turn his childhood dream into the thriving reality that WILD Zoological Park is today.
Alice Spark
Head Keeper
Hey my name is Alice and I’m the head keeper at WILD, I’ve been at the park since its opening back in 2016. My favourite part about working at WILD is the bird training for the Wild wings bird show, my fondest memories of working here have been training the birds to free-fly with my fantastic animal keeping team. I received my Zoology degree from Leeds university and also spent a year in Australia where I learnt an invaluable amount about wildlife!
One of my favourite things to do is to spend time with our Bald eagle Nina, she’s lovely, my current goal in life now is to head over to America and see these amazing birds flying in the wild. Another love of mine is spending time with our flock of parrots, they are my pride and joy, nothing gives me more happiness than seeing them all flying free together.
Georgia Hollinshead
General Manager
Hello everyone, my name is Georgia, and I am the General Manager at WILD Zoological Park. Some of you may remember me from the early days when I helped set up the zoo, and I’m incredibly grateful to be back, supporting my brother Zac in his mission to create the best zoo shows and experiences in the country.
I have seven years of experience as a specialist Early Years teacher, having worked in a virtues-led school where I saw firsthand the profound impact this approach has on children. I’m excited to weave these principles into the heart of WILD and continue developing our education programs.
I am incredibly proud of what the team at WILD has built, and I will make it my mission to support them in every way possible so they can succeed and love their time here.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and my dogs. My two-year-old daughter, Hallie, is firmly following in her uncle Zac’s footsteps as a budding performer and a huge animal lover!
Amber Jordan
Deputy Head Keeper of Birds
Hi, my name is Amber, and I am the deputy head keeper of birds at WILD Zoological Park, leading the bird section. I received my degree in zoology in 2021 and have worked at WILD since 2022. I am passionate about conservation, and providing the best care possible for our fantastic bird collection. One of my proudest achievements to date has been hand-rearing Bobby and Bailey, our two critically endangered blue-throated macaws. Our Wild Wings free flight bird display is one of the highlights of my job, and it is a privilege to be part of something so unique and inspiring that connects our visitors with wildlife and conservation of the world’s most endangered birds.
When I’m not busy at the zoo, I’m busy looking after my own mini zoo at home, which includes my dog, horse, hamster, and frog. Animals are a huge part of my life, and I am so lucky to be able to work with them every day!
Emily James
Deputy Head Keeper of Mammals & Reptiles
Hi I’m Emily and I am Deputy Head Keeper of Mammals & Reptiles! I joined WILD back in 2018, the zoo itself back then was tiny and we only had 10 birds in the Bird show! I have thoroughly enjoyed developing the zoo & training the birds over the years and will continue to strive for further success going forward. I have 10years experience as a financial controller prior to taking the career change into animal care, I have taken my team building skills to develop our working family here at WILD and this reflects in the happiness of our team both human & animal!
When I’m not training birds/mammals, I have a soft spot for Baloo the Binturong who many of you will probably know. He’s my furry best friend. You’ll usually find me at the end of the bird show covered in parrots. The macaws we always describe them as our children as we have such a close working relationship with them. The most rewarding part of the job is getting to see all your hard work pay off when the birds get to do what they do best! FLY!
If I’m not at the zoo I’m planning my next adventurous activity with my family be it; mountain biking, snowboarding, skydiving, hiking or even travelling!
Ben Halsall
Deputy Head Keeper
Hello! My name is Ben, and I am Deputy Head Keeper at WILD! Zoological Park overseeing our education and guest experience team.
My journey started with WILD! in October 2019 when I applied for a volunteer position within the collection. Soon after, I was offered an animal keeping role, which I was thrilled to accept. Of course, during this time, Covid restrictions shut our zoo down! I used this time as a way for developing my animal care skills and recording educational videos for our social media pages. I also continued my qualification in Animal Management, achieving a Higher National Diploma in 2023.
Over the 5 years I have been at WILD!, I have been fortunate to receive involvement that not many my age have access too. In June 2024, I was privileged to be asked to lead the education within the zoo. I feel accomplished most when developing our education resources, presenting our awe-inspiring shows, and motivating our devoted team of over 50 volunteers! I am honoured to have launched our JNR Keeper experience for our young aspiring explorers, along with the opportunity to further expand this offering across our community through tailored school workshops.
If you spot me on your visit, please do come and say hello! I am Lion King obsessed and hope to travel to Africa on safari very soon! 🦁
Sam Allen
Zookeeper
I first joined WILD Zoological Park as a volunteer in August 2020 and became a full-time zookeeper in April 2021. Since then, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to work across all areas of the zoo, caring for a wide variety of species—including mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians, and invertebrates.
Before WILD, I spent time working in conservation in South Africa on the Kwantu Reserve, where I specialised in caring for the African Big Five: lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and Cape buffalo. That experience only deepened my passion for wildlife and the importance of conservation.
Alongside my love for animals, I have a huge passion for paleontology and prehistoric life. I guess you could say I’m WILD’s prehistoric expert, this comes in handy for our spectacular dinosaur show ‘WILD WORLD OF DINOSAURS’ which I help to lead and operate.
As for my favorite animal? That’s an impossible question! Every species is incredible in its own way, but I especially love working with mammals and reptiles. Every day at WILD brings something new, and I feel lucky to be part of such an amazing team, helping to educate and inspire others about the wonders of the natural world.
Sam Halford
Zookeeper
Hi, my name is Sam, and I am a zookeeper here at WILD Zoological Park.
I first joined WILD in September 2020 as a volunteer while studying for my Level 3 Animal Management qualification. After gaining experience and developing my skills, I became a permanent member of the team in November 2023.
I love working at WILD because it allows me to be part of something special—caring for birds and creating unforgettable experiences for our visitors. Keeping the aviaries in top condition is a big part of my role, and I take pride in making sure all of our birds are happy, healthy, and living in a clean, enriching environment.
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking and exploring the great outdoors. I’m also planning a fundraising challenge soon to help support the zoo—so watch this space!
Even on my days off, you’ll probably still find me at the zoo. WILD is more than just a job; it’s a passion, and I’m proud to be part of this incredible team.
Fin Scott
Zookeeper
Hi, my name’s Fin, and I’m a zookeeper at WILD Zoological Park.
I joined WILD at the end of summer in 2023 after spending six years volunteering at another collection, where I built up valuable hands-on experience. I also hold a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management, which I studied for at Walford College.
My passion lies in herpetology, which is pretty obvious if you see my collection at home—various lizards, amphibians, invertebrates, and of course, my dog, Stella! At the zoo, my favourite animals to work with are our spectacled caiman—they’re absolutely fascinating!
Alongside my zookeeping duties, I also help oversee the volunteer team, deputising alongside Keeper Ben to support their operations and training. It’s incredibly rewarding to mentor up-and-coming animal professionals and share my knowledge with them.
You’ll also often find me heading out to our outreach events. I love bringing the zoo to schools, fairs, and community programs, helping to educate people about the amazing world of wildlife.
Working at WILD is more than just a job—it’s a passion. Every day is an opportunity to learn, teach, and make a difference, and I’m proud to be part of such an incredible team.
Caroline Gautier
Strategy & Planning
Caroline has had various roles during her working career from Company Secretary within an accounts role to sales consultant roles including Radio Advertising for Wolverhampton’s 107.7 The Wolf’; Branch Manager/ Area Sales for Kelly Services Recruitment; Secondary and Further Education Advisor/Consultant for Pearson Education (Formerly BTEC and Edexcel on specifications and resources).
As Zac’s mother – she now assists remotely in all administrative areas for Wild including strategic planning for the future, sponsorship opportunities, negotiation of both purchasing and sales accounts Working from home she can often be found working responding to queries at all times of the day and night!
Zac had his first macaw whilst still a teenager at home – Cybil, who flies in the shows today! He sat on his bed, designing his zoo, whilst I grumbled that he should stop dreaming and concentrate on his studies!! When he showed me his plans after visiting Zooparc de Beauval in France and showed me a video of their ‘free flying bird show’, I was filled with fear at the endless possibilities of what could go wrong! So,I am immensely proud of Zac, Alice and all of the team and the efforts to make our flagshop ‘Wild Wings Bird Show’ the utterly amazing spectacle it has become! With the addition now of Georgia too, with her educational background alongside Ben (our Head of Education) – we hope our brand new workshops produced to match every key stage of the National Curriculum will be another valuable string to Wild’s bow!
With four children and five grandchildren including an elderly mother to keep her busy – her drive is to help Zac, the team and all at Wild Zoo to be the best they can be and prosper!
